Today’s Sophisticated Bungalow-Sized Furniture

Posted by admin on Apr 10, 2012

Even if you live in a cozy bungalow, you don’t need to give up style. Years ago, people bought homes that tended to be bigger than nowadays. The furniture was almost all oversized. Excessive homes; overdone furniture were both in style back then. Now, consumers are more savvy and are seeking smaller sized furniture as they streamline their living space. SOHO lofts, sea bungalows; or a townhome next to the bay in San Francisco, various living spaces are smaller than home in the suburbs.

Years ago, the only smaller scaled furniture was basically, the kind of furniture college kids have in dorms. There was no style, no trend-factor; nothing noteworthy. It seemed as if small furniture meant scaling back on quality too. If you wanted small furniture, it meant having few choices of fabric. Style, design, classy, quality, trendy, stunning…none of those words would apply to small furniture in days past.

One famous stylish furniture maker has restructured some of their beautiful furniture and home decor collections and scaled it all back to small-space size. Once closed to those with small living spaces they didn’t offer anything but large sofas and dĂ©cor, anyone can enjoy beautiful craftsman style furniture. Many furniture designers and shops are offering loft sized furniture now; it’s a trendy thing right now.

Typically, couches come in 6-8 foot lengths. Five-foot loveseats might be available, but good luck if you need a sofa in any other length. Now, you have many choices. More furniture makers are producing modular styles, where you can buy the seating arrangement you need; can place as many or as few together to get the desired length of seating you want. Dining tables are generally 6 or 8 foot. You might find a smaller one, but odds are it will look kitchen rather than chic. Nowadays you can find smaller classy tables for eating and entertaining, without sacrificing style for space.

Now you have some say-so in the depth of a couch. Usually, a traditional couch depth is about 37″ and a deep couch is considered around 42″. Now, couches with depths as scaled down as 28″ are available. That narrower depth gives you more space to create pathways or add other furniture.
